Part 6: Lovely Parting Gifts
It is now Sunday night. The show is over. And Rafi and I have plenty of swag to show for it.
This is Rafi surrounded by all of the stuff she has accumulated
during the show.
(Sorry for the orange flow at the bottom of the picture -- that's a film defect.)
In this picture -- some flyers, fans, small-press books, the official convention program, and of course, my sketchbook, which featured sketches from various artists that I met. (Colleen Coover, as shown above, was the first to sketch in my book.)
Here, more of the same, including buttons, a Viz necklace (used to win prizes), an "Amelia Rules" T-shirt, and some Korean manhwa (manga).
Here, more comics, programs and convention junk, plus some "Deleter" -- background and shading screens used by many manga artists (which I'm willing to use for my own strip).
This picture includes a couple of books on the "Azumanga Daioh" anime, plus a couple of production sketches from the series.
This picture includes some small-press stuff, including Greg Beda's work (check it out), plus "Banana Sunday", signed by Colleen.
More items, including some signed comics from Paige Braddock ("Jane's World"), Bob Burden, Donna Barr and Roberta Gregory (including a comic book that's a benefit for her sick cat). Plus some more Viz junk, including a 2005 calendar (which I first got around Christmas time from my local Animenation).
Here is a print from Terry Moore ("Strangers In Paradise"), a new comic by James Kochalka (whom I met a couple of times before at Megacon in Orlando), and a "Shonen Jump" tote bag.
Finally, here is Alex Robinson's new book, "Tricked", plus these pictures. And to the left of Rafi is a print of the Jpop group, "Puffy AmiYumi", from their animated series (plus a couple of cards showing them in the flesh). Rafi and I love their music and TV show.
Rafi now relaxes, remembering the good time she had at the show, and waiting for her flight back home.
"Turn out the lights -- the party's over."
